Jérôme Salomon: Preparation for the 4th High Level Meeting during United Nations General Assembly
Jérôme SALOMON, Assistant Director General of World Health Organization, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“In preparation for the 4th High Level Meeting during United Nations General Assembly HLM4: sustainable financing for an effective noncommunicable disease NCDs and mental health response is attainable – and makes for a worthwhile investment!
- by increasing domestic health funding, including through health taxes on harmful products;
- by leveraging development assistance to kick-start NCD and mental health programmes in low-resource settings and support public goods;
- by implementing people-centred primary healthcare PHC interventions and integrated health financing mechanisms; and
- by strengthening collaboration across government sectors and partners for improved public-sector performance;
We can achieve cost-effective, multisectoral health interventions that improve health for all and curb the negative socioeconomic impacts of NCDs and mental health conditions.
