Gold September Policy Event: Childhood Cancer Awareness Month 2025 – SIOP Europe
SIOP Europe, the European Society for Paediatric Oncology (SIOPE) shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Two months to go until our high-level policy event at the European Parliament!
Did you know?
Childhood cancer is still the leading cause of disease-related death in children over one year old in Europe.
Despite receiving just around 1% of the EU’s health and research budgets, we’ve seen major progress – from cross-border care networks and survivorship support to pioneering research and digital innovation. Nevertheless, stark inequalities remain across Europe, and thousands of children still lack timely access to care and research.
That’s why this Gold September SIOP Europe, the European Society for Paediatric Oncology (SIOPE) and Childhood Cancer International – Europe are joining forces for a high-level policy event in the Parliament, co-hosted and co-organized by MEP Vlad Voiculescu (Renew Europe, RO) and MEP Romana Jerkovic (Socialists and Democrats Group in the European Parliament, HR).
Our goal is to ensure that children with cancer will remain a priority in the next EU budget, which should continue delivering on the following:
- Equal access to care and research across Member States
- Sustainable funding for paediatric cancer networks like ERNPaedCan
- Investment in academic research, digital health, and survivorship
No Child Left Behind: Prioritising Childhood Cancer in the Next EU Budget
- 23 September 2025
- 17:00–19:00 CEST
- European Parliament, Brussels (SPAAK 7C50)
What are you waiting for? Come join us in this important discussion!
Let’s work together to keep childhood cancer a European priority.”
