Elvina Almuradova: A causal link between alcohol consumption and an increased risk of cancer
Elvina Almuradova, Associate Professor of Oncology at IEO (European Institute of Oncology), shared a post on LinkedIn:
“A recent public health advisory outlines strong scientific evidence showing a causal link between alcohol consumption and an increased risk of at least seven types of cancer, including breast (in women), colorectal, esophageal, laryngeal, liver, oral, and throat cancers.
The Advisory emphasizes the need for greater public awareness of these risks and provides key recommendations to help reduce alcohol-related cancers.
This call to action underscores the importance of informed decision-making and policies—such as adding cancer warning labels to alcoholic beverages – to protect public health.”
