Debra Patt: The Power of Advocacy in Cancer Care

Debra Patt, President at Community Oncology Alliance, shared The US Oncology Network’s post on LinkedIn:

“The Power of Advocacy in Cancer Care

Advocacy is the cornerstone of advancing cancer care. We must champion our patients’ needs to ensure they have access to the latest, most effective therapies right in their communities. When we come together as a team, teamwork makes the dream work—being supported by an amazing network, US Oncology we strengthen our voice and impact.

By working hand in hand, we can bridge the gap between innovation and cures, making cutting-edge treatments accessible to those who need them most. Let’s continue to advocate fervently for our patients and push for a future where everyone benefits from the best of what modern oncology has to offer.”

The US Oncology Network shared on LinkedIn:

“Recently, The Network’s Public Policy team, in collaboration with Texas Oncology, led nearly 90 physicians and advocates to the Texas State Capitol to meet with legislators. Their mission: to advance policies that make cancer care more affordable, accessible, and patient-centered.

Through our collective advocacy, we amplify the voices of community oncology and their patients – focusing on:

  • Ensuring patient choice and timely access to safe care by addressing prior authorizations, step therapy, and patient steerage
  • Expanding access and prevention through telemedicine, cancer screenings, and genetic counseling
  • Supporting initiatives that enhance quality of life and address the physical and emotional impacts of cancer

A highlight of the event was honoring Debra Patt, Medical Director of Public Policy at The Network, with the inaugural Physician Advocacy Champion Award – recognizing her outstanding commitment to engaging policymakers on behalf of community oncology.
