Christos Tsagkaris: Highlights from the Congress for Children in Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery in Münster, Germany
Christos Tsagkaris, Orthopaedic Surgery Resident at Children’s Hospital Zurich, posted on LinkedIn:
“Congress for Children in Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery (Kongress für Kinder in Orthopädie und Unfallchirurgie) in Münster, Germany.
I delivered a presentation about the musculoskeletal effects of vaping, drugs, and substance use among children and adolescents penned with Dr. Matthias Rüger and Professor Dreher from the Children’s Hospital Zurich (Kinderspital Zürich).
Evidence of risky behaviors, injuries, and delayed bone healing among minors using e-cigarettes and drugs underscores the Madrid Declaration‘s ‘for a tobacco-free generation’ call to “ensure an appropriate legislative framework that safeguards children and adolescents from tobacco and nicotine products by preventing their uptake including reducing their appeal and affordability” during ECTOH2023.
Meeting new colleagues, exchanging ideas for future actions with fellow members of the Young Professionals Platform of the German-speaking Society for Pediatric Orthopedics (VKO), and practicing Ponseti clubfoot casting were among the highlights of the conference.
Before taking the way back we had the chance to meet with (very soon to be) Dr. Maria Pagiantza, and later on with Isabell Steidel recollecting our memories from the G20 youth summit in Varanasi and going through our upcoming panel discussion in the Beyond Sciences Initiative (BSI) Intl Conference.”
