Blood Cancer Awareness Day 2025: Building Diagnostic Capacity in Cameroon – World Child Cancer
World Child Cancer shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Blood Cancer Awareness Day 2025 | Building Diagnostic Capacity in Cameroon
This Blood Cancer Awareness Day, we’re spotlighting Dr. Kifem Vincentia, a participant in the Cameroon Baptist Convention Leukaemia Workshop, a key initiative made possible by the transformative collaboration between World Child Cancer and Amgen (Sean Lybrand, Philip Anderson), to enhance diagnostic services in Cameroon.
‘I learned strategies that can improve early identification and diagnosis of leukemia – an urgent need in our setting.’
Dr. Vincentia works at Baptist Hospital Mutengene, where lack of pathology services results in week-long delays for leukemia diagnoses – delays that cost lives. Through our support of this workshop and wider diagnostic strengthening efforts, we’re helping frontline healthcare workers access tools like telepathology to speed up diagnosis and improve outcomes.
We spotlight this story today because early diagnosis saves lives and investing in local expertise is the key to equitable care. By equipping hospitals with the right technology and training, we can reduce diagnostic delays and improve survival rates in pediatric cancer.”
