Barbara Ewals: Why Continuing Medical Education is essential to global health
Barbara Ewals, Chief Executive Officer at SIOG, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“At our recently concluded SIOG Masterclass 2025 in Paris, France (curated by our outstanding Course Leadership – Capucine Baldini, Florence Canouï-Poitrine, Etienne BRAIN, Martine Extermann and Loic Mourey) I was informed by FB that 12 years ago – I was also at a CME accredited conference in Hyderabad, India.
This made me reflect on lifelong learning – and why Continuing Medical Education isn’t just important—it’s essential to global health.
When physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers commit to lifelong learning, the benefits extend far beyond individual careers:
- Better Patient Outcomes
- Stronger Public Health Responses
- Equity in Healthcare
- Trust in the Healthcare System
In a world where medical breakthroughs can happen instantaneously, learning never stops. Supporting CME isn’t just an investment in professionals—it’s an investment in the health and well-being of society as a whole.
How do you or your organization prioritize continuing medical education? Let’s discuss!”
