ASPIRE for Lung Cancer Hosts Patient Advocacy Workshop to Advance APAC Lung Cancer Policy Consensus

ASPIRE for Lung Cancer posted on LinkedIn:

This Friday, 9 May 2025, ASPIRE will be hosting a dedicated Patient Advocacy Group (PAG) Workshop as part of the ongoing APAC Lung Cancer Policy Consensus Initiative.

Co-convened by ASPIRE, Mary Bussell and Herbert Loong, Asia Pacific Coalition against Lung Cancer, this workshop aims to ensure that patient voices are meaningfully reflected in the final consensus, reinforcing ASPIRE’s commitment to inclusive, patient-centred policy development.

We believe that lasting change in lung cancer care can only happen when those with lived experience – patients, caregivers, and advocates – are at the centre of the conversation. If you work alongside lung cancer patients, or are a patient, caregiver, or advocate yourself, we warmly invite you to be part of this critical conversation.

The PAG workshop builds on insights from two expert-led workshops held last month, which established a strong foundation across six priority areas drawn from the Global Lung Cancer Consensus Statement (co-authored by Dr. Mary Bussell) and ASPIRE’s “Bridging the Gap” White Paper:

  • Prevention
  • Screening and Early Detection
  • Diagnosis
  • Access to Treatment
  • Stigma and Patient Experience
  • Investments and Partnerships

Together, we’ll work to co-develop a patient-centric vision that directly informs the final consensus to ensure that it is not only evidence-based but rooted in the real needs and experiences of patients across the region.”

The upcoming PAG Workshop will gather voices from across the lung cancer community to shape a regional policy grounded in patient needs. Building on past expert sessions, it will help finalize a framework addressing prevention, screening, diagnosis, access, stigma, and investment.
