April Dorenbosch discussed migrant struggles with cancer care in Europe in Youth Cancer Europe interview
Youth Cancer Europe shared a post on LinkedIn:
“YCE patient advocate April Dorenbosch shares her personal experience and the challenges she faced as a Filipino migrant in the Netherlands, including how she ‘struggled less with the cancer diagnosis, but more with fitting into a community that’s not very welcoming.’
‘I look totally different from them. They can judge me from head to toe and say “She doesn’t belong,’ said April.
In our upcoming webinar “Migration, Displacement and Cancer Care Access in Europe” organised together with the European Network of Youth Cancer Survivors we will address the disparities faced by migrants, displaced persons and non-native speakers living with and beyond cancer in Europe.
