ASPIRE for Lung Cancer Concludes APAC Lung Cancer Consensus Finalisation Workshop Ahead of July Launch
ASPIRE for Lung Cancer shared a post on LinkedIn:
“On Tuesday, 17 June, ASPIRE wrapped up the APAC Lung Cancer Consensus Finalisation Workshop with our esteemed panel of clinicians and academics from across the region. This marks a pivotal milestone for the initiative since it was launched earlier in March, as we head toward the official launch of this landmark initiative.
During the workshop, participants from across the region engaged in a structured voting session to evaluate and affirm a set of action statements, co-developed over the past few months with input from patient group representatives, ensuring meaningful representation of voices across the care continuum in the region. These statements are anchored in five key guiding principles, congruent with those outlined in the global lung cancer consensus (co-authored by Dr. Mary Bussell, PhD), which has been ratified by international faculty and endorsed across multiple regional conferences:
Improve and expand prevention
Focus on early detection
Ensure equitable and sustainable access to treatment
Build partnerships and promote investment
Combat stigma, recognising it as a social determinant of public health
What’s next?
We will be officially launching these finalised consensus statements at our dedicated launch event on 31 July in Singapore. The event will be open to all via Zoom webinar, and we will share the registration link and more details here soon, so stay tuned!
A heartfelt thank you to our co-conveners Dr. Herbert Loong and Dr. Mary Bussell and to everyone who has contributed to the initiative, generously sharing their time, insights, and expertise throughout the process, including those who joined us for the working session yesterday:
Together, we’re shaping a future where equitable and timely lung cancer care is possible for all in APAC.”
