Yesterday the Access to Breast Cancer Diagnosis Act was introduced in the House of Representatives and Senate – ACS CAN

American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) shared on LinkedIn:

“Yesterday the Access to Breast Cancer Diagnosis Act was introduced in the House of Representatives and Senate. The ACBD Act helps remove financial barriers to imaging and screening tests used to diagnose Breast Cancer, including MRIs, ultrasound, and mammograms.

‘Out-of-pocket cost sharing is a significant barrier for those individuals who need access to multiple early detection services in order to find cancer at an earlier stage when treatment is more effective,’ said Lisa A. Lacasse, president of ACS CAN. ‘These additional expenses can lead to delayed or even skipped medically necessary procedures resulting in potentially life-threatening consequences. Removing cost sharing for each intervention in the screening process is a critical step toward ending cancer as we know it, for everyone.’

ACS CAN urges Congress to swiftly pass this important legislation to help make breast cancer diagnostic tests more accessible, which can help reduce the cancer burden and save more lives.”
