Fabio Ynoe de Moraes: Gen AI tools in Medical Research Survey

Fabio Ynoe de Moraes, Radiation Oncologist and Innovation Professor at Queen’s University, shared on LinkedIn:

“We need your support – Gen AI tools in Medical Research Survey

Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices (KAP) Survey on the Application of Generative Artificial Intelligence Tools in Medical Research

With the release of ChatGPT at the end of 2022, generative AI tools are now widely applied in various fields of medicine, providing numerous conveniences and enhancing research efficiency for clinicians, researchers, authors, and other stakeholders.

However, these tools also bring several challenges and issues, such as ethical concerns and academic fraud. To regulate the application of generative AI, we have established the Reporting items for the use CHatbots and other gEnerative AI tools in mEdical Research (CHEER) working group. Its mission is to help medical professionals transparently and systematically report their use of generative AI.

Currently, this initiative has recruited 44 researchers from 23 countries or regions worldwide. Additionally, to better understand the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of researchers related to generative AI, we are conducting this international multicenter survey. Participants are required to be individuals who are familiar with or have used generative AI tools.

This survey is initiated by the CHEER working group and supported by the WHO Collaborating Centre for Guideline Implementation and Knowledge Translation. The survey will be conducted online using SurveyMonkey. The questionnaire includes sections on basic personal information and questions regarding the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of generative AI in medicine.

The survey is expected to take approximately 15 minutes to complete. All responses will be treated in the strictest confidence, and we will not identify individual responses in any presentations or publication arising from this exercise. This project received a waiver of approval from the Research Ethics Committee at the Institute of Health Data Science of Lanzhou University (Lanzhou, China).

If you have any questions, please contact me.
Thank you for your participation and support!”
