Carmen Uscatu: How we can create centers of excellence
Carmen Uscatu, Founding Member and President at Give Life, shared on LinkedIn:
““There is no passion to be found playing small in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living.” — Nelson Mandela
Here at Dăruiește Viață, we share the same approach. Our children deserve the best.
Yesterday, the focus was on how we, Dăruiește Viață and the doctors from Marie Curie, can create centers of excellence.
In neurosurgery, our surgeons aim to become the top neurosurgery unit in neuro-oncology and also to establish the best epilepsy center in Romania. Currently, children with epilepsy in Romania lack a dedicated hospital for cases where they require surgery due to treatment resistance.
Yesterday, we also discussed the importance of opening the stem cell transplant unit.
With the support of authorities, Romanian doctors from other hospitals, and our partner Prinses Máxima Centrum voor kinderoncologie, I am confident that we can establish a comprehensive treatment approach for children with leukemia at Marie Curie Children’s Hospital.
Meanwhile, as Laura Ioana Stefanescu undergoes a fellowship for leukemia at Prinses Maxima in Utrecht, I was served by her colleague at the hospital and find solace in sipping my morning coffee from her cup. Laura, we are missing you.”
