Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu’s latest commentary on Cervical Cancer Elimination Forum
Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu shared a post on LinkedIn: .
“Following the first Cervical Cancer Elimination Forum in Cartagen, which I attended with my colleague, Sabrina Zucchello from the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), I am excited to share my latest commentary, published by the Journal of Clinical Oncology.
Read the full commentary here.
Significant commitments were made at the forum by partners, which have far reaching consequences to low and medium income countries, to eliminating cervical cancer.
For the past few years, my team and I have worked with CSOs, governments, patient advocates, traditional and religious leaders, influencers and other relevant stakeholders to generate demand, counter misinformation and push for policies to meet the targets. Thankfully, Nigeria has vaccinated a record of 12.9 girls in 8 months.
I applaud the leadership of the Ministry of Health under the leadership of Muhammad Ali Pate, Dr. Tunji Alausa as well as our National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) for this record achievement. In my commentary, I delve into the importance of a more inclusive approach to tackle cervical cancer inequalities.
Furthermore, research and data not only inform our strategies and interventions but also drive innovation and improvements in patient outcomes.
Together, let’s continue to push the boundaries of knowledge.”
