Wafik El-Deiry: Great to welcome our visiting scholar for the second year in our ACS – FIA fellowship

Wafik El-Deiry shared a post on LinkedIn:                      .

“Great to welcome Morehouse School of Medicine medical student Brian Baker, III who is our visiting scholar this summer in Providence for the second year in our American Cancer Society – Fostering Innovation Award (ACS-FIA) at Brown University Legorreta Cancer CenterMorehouse School of Medicine Cancer Health Equity Institute Physician-Scientist Trainee Fellowship.

Today Brian spent time with me as I presented cases at the international WIN Consortium in cancer personalized medicine molecular tumor board and then met the lab at our weekly lab meeting. Looking forward to co-mentoring him with Benedito A. Carneiro, as Brian is interested in GU/prostate cancer therapeutics research and clinical experiences.

Brian is following in the footsteps of Nolan Stubbs who was with us last summer and ended up staying for a year as he worked on his masters thesis. Nolan, who had completed his 3rd year of med school, advised that his peers should try to get the type of experiences he had earlier to maximize ultimate impact. As such it is great that Brian is earlier in his med school career having just completed his first year.”
