Douglas Flora: The research you’ve performed, and published is changing the way cancer patients are treated around the world
Douglas Flora shared a post by on LinkedIn:
“Patients are safer in our community because of work like this. Well done to our Center for Precision Medicine and Genomic Health.
The research you’ve performed, and published not only helped your patients, now is changing the way cancer patients are treated around the world. This is why we care so much about clinical research here.
And I must say, I love seeing your work mentioned on short lists academic powerhouses like Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
‘The USA cancer community might be late to adopt Dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase (DPYD) testing to avoid severe/fatal toxicity from commonly used chemotherapy, but the tide has finally changed. The recent Food and Drug Administration (FDA) package insert change is followed by very successful implementation at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
With data from community centers, such as Atrium Health and St. Elizabeth Healthcare, there are no more excuses for rest of the field.’ ”
