Julie McCrossin: Thank you Prof Sandra Turner and everyone involved in this leadership training in Australia and world-wide

Julie McCrossin, Broadcaster, MC, Cancer Survivor & Community Educator, shared the following post by Lucinda Morris, Radiation Oncologist at NSW Health, adding the following:

“As a cancer patient advocate, I value this international leadership professional development very highly. It is hard to change systems and improve care in a systemic and sustainable way.

I come from a medical family with two brothers who are doctors and my step-daughter is a doctor. I have watched medical education at close quarters. Brilliant clinicians don’t automatically have the capacity for the kind of leadership that effects change in healthcare at the system level.

Thank you Prof Sandra Turner and everyone involved in this leadership training in Australia and world-wide.”

Quoting Lucinda Morris’ post:

“‘If you can’t see it, you can’t be it'”

Dr Gina Hesselberg opens an all star line up of hashtag#radonc leaders sharing wisdom about leading change in the world of radiation oncology

Take home messages:

  • We must open our eyes to unconscious bias
  • Diversity in our hashtag radiation oncology teams is critical
  • Collaboration between RTTs + ROMPs + ROs is essential for success.”
