In a post by Nirmala Bhoo Pathy on Linkedin, it says, “While enormous resources had been invested in biomedicine in the 50-year-old “war on cancer”, the relative neglect of the human dimensions of cancer care such as in enhancing quality of care, relieving suffering, and improving the well-being of individuals with cancer and their families have resulted in what we have termed a “humanitarian crisis of cancer”.

This crisis has been amplified throughout the world by the growing burden of cancer, particularly in the low- and middle-income countries.
