Erika Bergeron: My first ever publication highlights the importance of Community Health Navigators adults who use American Sign Language

Erika Bergeron, Associate Clinical Research Coordinator at Center for Deaf Health Equity, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Excited to share our latest publication (my first ever) in the Journal of Cancer Education! Our article highlights the importance of Community Health Navigators (CHNs) for Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing (DDBHH) adults who use American Sign Language. We advocate for a tailored training program to equip CHNs with cultural competence and insight into the unique barriers faced by the DDBHH community. Empowering CHNs in this way enhances cancer screening rates and supports DDBHH patients in navigating the healthcare system effectively.”
