JJ Singleton: I Fully Believe Was The Start of Saving My Life Star Wars Gave Me Something I Had Been Missing
JJ Singleton, Cancer Survivor, Advocate and Ambassador at Fight Colorectal Cancer, shared on X:
“Not so long ago in a galaxy very close to present day I was a completely different person than you know today, there was no advocacy there was no sharing my life with cancer, no cancer community friends, there was no acknowledgement of mental health
I was beyond depressed and getting worse.
Then came March 12 2017 l the internet and cable were out but on my uncle’s DVR there were the first 6 Star Wars movies saved that night I fully believe was the start of saving my life Star Wars gave me something I had been missing and something i think is so important to cancer patients or any one dealing with major issues. It gave me an escape, I was able to finally escape life with cancer for a few hours at least.
So on this May 4th 2024 I honor and thank Star Wars and everyone associated with creating it since 1977 for being a major factor in saving my life and giving me hope and an escape, a start to a path to caring about life again and the push to help others find their escape no matter what it is in.
Also always a huge shout out to my favorite author Claudia Gray for making me part of the Star wars universe and naming the Droid after me.”
