The SSO 2025 Annual Meeting will be held from March 27-29, 2025, in Tampa, FL, featuring educational sessions, specialized content by disease site, programs for advanced practice providers, residents, and fellows, as well as friendly competitions and expanded networking opportunities.

Many physicians and organizations have shared posts from SSO2025:

Ajay Maker:

“Great turnout of NCI Surgical Oncology Alumni at SSO2025. Celebrated our legacy of translational immunotherapy, Steve Rosenberg and the early pioneers that came thru the surgery branch, (re)connected with alumni/trainees, and laid plans for the future.”

Sophia Williams-Perez:

“Honored, grateful, and humbled to have our work with underrepresented, rare cancer patients selected for presentation at SSO2025.

Nadege Fackche:

“What a gratifying experience to be part of the Society of Surgical Oncology’s Surgical Oncology Pathways to Health Engagement, Representation, and Education Committee (SPHERE).

A big shoutout to the inaugural class of the Foster the Future program! Meet five exceptional young surgeons-in-training from diverse backgrounds, all driven to enhance cancer outcomes for everyone. With Foster the Future, they’ll benefit from mentorship, sponsorship, and guidance provided by seasoned SSO members.

Reflecting on my own path as a young surgical oncologist, mentorship has played a pivotal role and continues to shape my journey. Proud to be part of an organization committed to advancing equitable healthcare.”

Miriam Mutebi:

“80% of all cancer patients will require a surgical procedure, yet in Africa, 9/10 have no access to safe, timely surgery.

We (AORTIC- Africa) will be participating in the SSO2025 meeting.

As part of our ongoing MOU with the Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO), we are looking for ways to expand surgical capacity in Africa. The SSO supports the International Career Development Exchange Program.

This initiative allows surgical oncologists involved in cancer surgery to attend the annual SSO meeting and spend 1-2 weeks at a center of their choice—building connections, gaining experience, and sharing knowledge on best practices.

This partnership is crucial because cancer surgery lags behind other treatment modalities, despite covering the full spectrum of care, from diagnosis and prevention to treatment and palliation. It’s a critical piece that needs more focus.

We are proud of this year’s recipient, a practicing surgical oncologist from Angola, Dr. iryna jacinto based at Irene Neto Hospital and one of our AORTIC- Africa, Africa Cancer Leaders initiative (ACLI). She is committed to making a difference in cancer care in her region.

Sending a spotlight her way!”

Jennifer Plichta:

“Fabulous presentation by Kelley Chan and Chandler S Cortina on breast cancer in transgender patients – tend to be younger but still have worse overall survival? So much to learn!”

Alessandro Gronchi:

“Another successful meeting of the Transatlantic Australasian RetroPeritoneal Sarcoma Working Group on the occasion of the annual meeting of the Society of Surgical Oncology.

John E. Mullinax is a wonderful host. An overview of the achievements of the past years to brainstorm about the current and future endeavors.

A thorough discussion about the prospective registry RESAR: overall, over 3000 patients included; actions to improve the quality of the collected data even further; timing of data submission; the importance of the consecutiveness of the patients. Surveillance is the first randomized registry-based study.

A framework agreement to share omics data. New studies on the Horizon, such as ReLapse. Discussion about the status of STRASS2 and STREXIT2. Brainstorm about the next RESAR studies and STRASS3.

Lots of interactions and enthusiasm as always. It’s fantastic to see how this global collaboration moves forward and becomes stronger and stronger over the years!”
