European Cancer Organisation welcomes SANT as a permanent committee of the European Parliament

“A milestone for EU Public Health!
ECO welcomes the establishment of the Committee on Public Health (SANT) as a permanent committee of the European Parliament. This is a significant step forward, ensuring that public health remains a top priority in EU policymaking.
‘This development is much needed, as we still haven’t learnt the lessons of the Covid-19 pandemic,’ said Prof. Csaba Dégi, president of the European Cancer Organisation.’The EU’s role in helping countries address common health challenges, including cancer, is powerful and transformative. It is only right that the European Parliament reflects this with a committee of such stature and standing. Once again, MEPs are reflecting the logic and public support for an EU with a health agenda.’
