Sarah Garner: Our review of ATMP access between countries in the WHO Region, Canada and Australia
Sarah Garner, Senior Policy Advisor at WHO EURO, recently shared on LinkedIn:
“Published today is our review of ATMP access between countries in the WHO Region, Canada and Australia. Thank you to Sabine Vogler the PPRI network for their collaboration.
No surprises: there is considerable variability in access to ATMP’s between countries. But there are some very interesting insights into the reasons why.
We make a series of recommendations and highlight the importance of the stakeholder collaboration that is happening through the WHO NMP Access to Novel Medicines Platform.
1) A pan-European approach for post-launch evidence generation
2) More investment and co-operation for capacity building on HTA, risk sharing schemes and data protocols
3) More transparency about data-collection aspects of managed entry schemes
4) Demand pooling/joint purchasing for the smaller/less well-resourced countries
5) Launches in more countries and enabling cross-border access”
