GISTs with PDGFRA mutation show lower 18F-FDG uptake compared to other molecular subtypes
Elvina Almuradova, Associate Professor of Oncology at the European Institute of Oncology, shared an article by Maria Concetta Nigro on LinkedIn:
“GISTs with PDGFRA mutation show lower 18F-FDG uptake compared to other molecular subtypes, especially KIT exon 11–mutant GISTs JAMA Network Open.
Median SUVmax in D842V-mutant GISTs:
- Median SUVmax in non-D842V-mutant GISTs: 3.6
• Median SUVmax in KIT exon 11-mutant GISTs: 10.1
• Clinical Relevance: Low FDG uptake in PDGFRA-mutant GISTs may limit the utility of FDG-PET in this subgroup but raises questions about its prognostic and predictive value.
