Arun Krishna: Breaking down barriers to equitable care in lung cancer
Arun Krishna, Vice President, Franchise Head, US Lung Cancer Business at AstraZeneca, posted the following on LinkedIn:
“This post is intended for a U.S. audience.
My AstraZeneca team and I are driven by a mission to treat every patient at every stage, regardless of their background. Our mission came to life this past weekend at the World Conference on Lung Cancer (WCLC), where I joined my colleagues Katy Miller, David LeDuc, Andrew White, and our partners from the advocacy community to discuss how we can break down barriers to equitable care in lung cancer.
We focused on how a holistic lung health approach – combining efforts across diseases like chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and lung cancer – could drive positive, lasting change for patients around the world. We also looked at best practices from integrated care models in COPD that could be applied in lung cancer.
Through our partnerships with passionate patient advocates across the lung health field, we aim to create a world where every patient has access to the best cancer care – no matter their zip code, race or socioeconomic background. Aligning health equity priorities, working to overcome barriers faced by underserved and underrepresented patients, developing actionable solutions: we’re working together to tackle these challenges head-on and improve outcomes for lung cancer patients from diagnosis to survivorship and beyond.
Addressing health disparities is a tough mountain to climb, but we believe in the potential to rewrite the future of cancer care. Thanks to the relentless dedication of so many advocates and our boundary-pushing science, we’re seizing the opportunity to expand our impact to even more lung cancer patients around the globe.”
