Carmen Uscatu: When the meaning of the future lies in our past

“The Same Us.
When the meaning of the future lies in our past.
I love weekends because they bring me knowledge from books. Whether I read to develop professionally (like for my master’s assignments) or for pleasure, the universe I discover in reading is transformative. Yes, when you choose to read, you choose to grow and inevitably to change.
Today I choose to write about Catalina Dumitrescu’s book. It’s a book you can read in a weekend, but it will open up a universe that could then occupy your entire life. Because you will learn about concepts that impact your daily life, because it is about relationships.
Good or bad. It is about scientific studies and authors who change or explain concepts in psychology through their research. Because it is about the struggles and deviations of each of us.
But it is also about the mentality in our society, which impacts us daily and maybe for this reason, it is a call to reflection, to get more involved, to think more deeply, to stop throwing stones and to stop living in perpetual hysteria. And it is also about dying. In peace.
I will put a quote here that I hope will invite you to read her book, if you haven’t done so already:
‘A traumatized society that repeats the same behaviors for generations condemns itself by clinging fiercely to outdated traditional, mystical, and religious rituals, using arguments like ‘we must not forget our origins.’ We only become more rigid, we do not allow the new and change, and unfortunately, we fall behind because change happens whether we agree or not, a fact that frustrates us, and an effect is the bitterness and contempt for everything different and everything we do not understand because it does not fit our mental patterns.’
Open the door that you keep locked within yourself and allow yourself to feel well.”
