Bernard Fox: We need to build more bridges of understanding in the Asia-Pacific
Bernard Fox, Co-Founder and CEO of UbiVac shared a post on LinkedIn by Han Chong Toh, Deputy Chief Executive Officer at the National Cancer Centre Singapore, adding:
“Han Chong Toh I agree with Ghassan Abou-Alfa.
The Mighty USS Missouri, the site where the Empire of Japan surrendered in 1945, should be a reminder of peace and that doctors, both physicians and scientists, must rise beyond borders and above politics.
These types of exchanges between experts from the USA, Japan, China, Taiwan, Korea, Australia, Singapore and other countries offer opportunities for dialogue and friendships that can build bridges of understanding. It is my opinion that we need to build more bridges of understanding in the Asia-Pacific.
I anticipate the leadership of Prof. Zian Zhou, President elect of the IASLC Foundation and a surgeon from Zhongshan Hospital in Shanghai, whom I met at the recent WIC Asia / Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer (SITC) meeting in Shanghai, will provide opportunities for expanded exchanges.
This will be a good thing for the study of Lung Cancer, patients, and, I believe countries of the Pacific Rim and the World.”
Quoting Han Chong Toh’s post:
“Aloha! Asia-Pacific primary liver cancer expert meeting faculty dinner on USS Missouri in Pearl Harbour. Ghassan Abou-Alfa reminds us that this epic venue must instead be a call to peace and that doctors must rise beyond borders above politics.
Squatting to my right is Apple president Norihito Kokudo president National Center for Global Health and Medicine Japan and next to him is Apple president elect Jian Zhou top gun surgeon leader Zhongshan Hospital Shanghai and next to Jian the living legend of breast oncology Larry Norton senior vice president Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
