Zara Baloch: How Follicular Lymphoma Care Is Becoming More Individualized

Zara Baloch, Observer at HCA Houston Healthcare, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Honored to host Dr. Julio Chavez MD, MS, lymphoma lead at Mayo Clinic Jacksonville, for today’s MedNews Week Session on follicular lymphoma and the evolving treatment landscape.

Dr. Chavez delivered an incredible presentation highlighting how survival in follicular lymphoma has improved over the years, while also emphasizing the challenges that remain in relapsed/refractory disease. His discussion covered important advances in CAR-T therapy, bispecific antibodies, targeted therapies, treatment sequencing, and patient-centered decision-making.

One of the most valuable takeaways was how individualized follicular lymphoma care has become. Treatment decisions are no longer based only on efficacy, but also on disease biology, prior therapies, toxicity, access, convenience, quality of life, and each patient’s goals.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to learn from Dr. Chavez’s expertise, mentorship, and thoughtful perspective on where lymphoma care is headed next.

A truly valuable session for trainees, clinicians, researchers, and everyone following the future of hematologic oncology.”
