Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu: Cancer Survivors’ Stories Take Center Stage at NePICiN Summit

Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu, UICC President-Elect of 2024-2026, Founder and CEO of the Medicaid Cancer Foundation, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Cancer survivors carry stories that deserve to be heard. Their experiences, challenges, and victories were at the heart of the Network of People Impacted by Cancer in Nigeria (NePICiN) Summit, held under the theme, ‘A Canvas of Hope and Healing: Every Survivor’s Story Matters.

Also present was Her Excellency Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal, who delivered remarks on behalf of the Chairperson of First Ladies Against Cancer (FLAC) Nigeria, H.E. BARR. Chioma Uzodimma. She reiterated FLACs commitment to serving rural communities and complimenting efforts of government.

In my goodwill message, as Board chair of NEPICIN, I encouraged survivors and people with lived experience to share their stories and use their voices to create more awareness and knowledge. Their experiences can also challenge stigma. Many shared their positive experiences with government led interventions like the Cancer Health Fund and Chemotherapy Access Program.

My appreciation to NEPICIN and its partners for providing this platform where survivors are heard and valued.”
