Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu։ UICC Enters Strategic Partnership With National Cancer Center of Korea

Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu, Senior Adviser at Federal Ministry of Health Nigeria, shared on LinkedIn:

“Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) enters strategic partnership with National Cancer Center of Korea.

The second day of World Cancer Congress featured the Asia-Pacific Regional Meeting.

Regional meetings allows UICC board members and its teams to discuss, share, priorities, exchange perspectives on challenges, and strengthen collaborative efforts of members within the area.

A major highlight was the signing of an MOU with the President Han-Kwang Yang of National Cancer Center Korea (NCCK), which I co-signed on behalf of UICC.

The agreement will support early- and mid-career researchers, build capacity among members and expand UICC’s membership base.

This is a much appreciated contribution from the Institute.

Nearly half of cancer patients in Southeast Asia face financial catastrophe within a year of diagnosis and UICC will continue to promote early awareness and treatment in the region.

For our members, this is where the work becomes crucial. Global commitments mean little without local action.

As I take on my role as UICC President, I intend to build on relationships across all regions of the world, South, East, North and West, to improve cancer outcomes globally.”
