Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) shared a post on LinkedIn:
“While progress has been made towards eliminating cervical cancer, notably in high-resource settings, about 90% of cervical cancer deaths still occur in low- and middle-income countries, such as Nigeria, highlighting stark inequities in health outcomes.
Dr Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu, President-Elect of UICC, highlights the major obstacles the country continues to face despite progress in expanding HPV vaccination and strengthening political commitment, including poor data systems, limited screening coverage, high treatment costs, and widespread misinformation.
