“Last week, we honoured cancer patients, among whom was Mercy, a 25-year-old cervical cancer patient. Despite being diagnosed at stage 2, her inability to afford treatment caused her condition to progress to stage 3. This highlights the importance of having insurance coverage for cancer patients.
Kudos to Dr. Ishak Lawal and End Cervical Cancer Naija for supporting Mercy and bringing her case to light, and also our sincere gratitude to the Honourable Minister of Finance, Mr. Wale Edun, for identifying with the elimination agenda. Screening is only the beginning. Follow-up care is what truly saves lives, early detection without action can’t.”
