“Supporting cancer patients, and indeed their carers, has different dimensions. They need emotional, medical, and financial succor. So when the coordinating minister, Mr Wale Edun, said ‘today’s event by the Medicaid Cancer Foundation goes beyond N100 million’, I was elated.
Here is a critical stakeholder who understands what we are doing and what we need! Watching survivors find strength, relief, and hope through acts of compassion reinforces my dedication to this cause.
Over 40 patients battling different stages of cancer were present. Through a very sharp panel session and another fireside chat, we were able to tell the stories of a male breast cancer, a female colon cancer, and a mother of a child lost to leukemia. All these valuable insights that highlight the urgency of prioritizing access to care in our health system.
In addition, we unveiled the first cohort of the Medicaid Cancer Foundation Circle, a community built to sustain hope and strengthen patient support, using their skill sets.
Finally, ahead of the Cervical Cancer Elimination Day of Action on November 17, we held a teal ribbon ceremony, symbolizing our continuous and collaborative commitment to end cervical cancer.
