Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu, UICC President-Elect of 2024-2026 and a Founder and CEO of the Medicaid Cancer Foundation, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Breast and cervical cancers continue to threaten women’s health worldwide, with over 2.3 million breast cancer cases and 600,000 cervical cancer cases recorded each year. Awareness, screening, and early detection is essential to saving lives.
This October, I was invited by the Philippine Embassy in Abuja to the “Think Pink, Think Teal – Check, Care, Conquer” awareness event, where my team and I partnered with the Embassy to provide vital checks and practical demonstrations on breast self-examination and cervical cancer prevention.
I shared outcomes of a recent meeting with Bloomberg new economy and American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), an innovative cancer fund, which intends to use diaspora remittances to address funding gaps in cancer. Philippines, like Nigeria, has a high diaspora remittance rate.
Extremely grateful to the Ambassador, HE MERSOLE MELLEJOR, DFA-HRMO for the certificate of recognition presented to us, as well the gracious reception.”
