Yi Rong: February Updates from JACMP Editorial Team

Yi Rong, Medical Physicist and Radiation Oncologist at Mayo Clinic, Editor in Chief, Journal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“February has been another productive month for the JACMP editorial team. Thank you to our section editors, associate editors, and reviewers for maintaining an efficient and rigorous peer review process.

This past month, we worked closely with the Editors-in-Chief of Medical Physics to more clearly define the complementary scopes of our two journals. Clear scope definition helps authors choose the right venue, improves review efficiency, and ensures manuscripts are evaluated in the appropriate context.

JACMP publishes clinically relevant research, technical developments, and educational guidance that advance medical physics practice across radiation oncology, diagnostic imaging, interventional radiology, nuclear medicine, health physics, and related fields. We emphasize clinical translation, validation, implementation, consensus guidance, practical case studies, and policy and regulatory topics. We also provide a platform for professional issues, management, education, workforce development, and global engagement.

Medical Physics places greater emphasis on fundamental and methodological research. While there is natural overlap, JACMP remains primarily clinically and professionally oriented, whereas Medical Physics is centered on scientific discovery and methodological advancement.

A clearly articulated scope strengthens both journals and better serves our profession. More details are elaborated in the upcoming editorial (currently in production).”
