Yan Leyfman: MedNews Week Celebrates 4-Year Anniversary

Yan Leyfman, Medical Oncologist, Co-Founder and Executive Director of MedNews Week, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“This month marks the 4-year anniversary of MedNews Week.

Four years since a simple idea in December 2021 grew into our first episode in January 2022. What started with three people and one mission has become a global movement in medical education, reaching thousands of clinicians and patients at every episode, and a team of over 35 volunteers who pour their hearts, time, and passion into this platform.

Today, we are humbled and honored that our work has been officially published in the prestigious Journal of Global Oncology (JCO). For our initiative to be showcased on a global academic stage is not just a milestone—it is validation that free, accessible education makes a difference, and that innovation and equity can be created anywhere when enough people believe in a mission.

None of this happened alone.

To the MedNews Week team:
Thank you. You are the soul of this platform. Watching each member grow, lead, and realize their potential has been the greatest privilege of all. This community exists because you kept showing up and kept moving the mission forward.

To our speakers:
Thank you for giving your time, expertise, and energy—not for recognition, but because you care about the impact your words can have on patients, clinicians, and families across the world. You helped shape a global classroom.

To ASCO and Conquer Cancer:
Thank you for believing in us when we were still growing. Our journey with ASCO Breakthrough 2023 and the opportunity to present this work in Japan was transformative. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Julie Gralow and the ASCO team for your support, generosity, and mentorship. We are forever grateful.

To our partners:
Thank you for embracing this mission. Thank you for celebrating innovation in education and entrusting us with your audiences, your time, and your belief that we all share a responsibility to lift this field higher.

And to the people who helped guide us here:
Dr. Chandler Park — thank you for helping build this vision from day one.
Dr. Arturo Bonilla — thank you for your mentorship, guidance, and belief in what this platform could become.

MedNews Week was built for one purpose:
To combat global healthcare misinformation and democratize medical education—regardless of geography, background, or financial barriers.

Today we reach over 100 countries, including 44 lower-income regions. We have featured world leaders in medicine, we have become a platform for global conversation and collaboration, and we are just getting started.

From the bottom of my heart:
Thank you to every speaker, every attendee, every partner, every team member, every person who believed in us. Thank you for letting this platform become a community. Thank you for helping us build something that makes medicine more accessible, more human, and more equitable.

We are proud, we are humbled, and we are excited for what comes next.

Here’s to the first four years—and to all the impact still ahead.”
