Bishow Nath Adhikari Highlights Nepal’s Shared Care Network at SIOP Asia Congress – World Child Cancer

World Child Cancer, shared on LinkedIn:

“At this year’s SIOP Asia Congress, Dr Bishow Nath Adhikari, Paediatric Oncologist at Kanti Children’s Hospital, highlighted how the shared care network is being put into practice in Nepal.

With the financial support of the Sanofi Foundation (Isabelle Villadary), the shared care network project provides a strong example of how coordinated referral pathways and decentralised care can improve access to treatment, strengthen continuity of care, and support better outcomes for children and families facing geographic and financial barriers.

The poster highlighted how collaboration between specialist centres and wider hospital networks can bring treatment closer to home while maintaining high-quality clinical oversight.

The Sanofi Foundation also supported Dr Bishow’s attendance at the conference, enabling him to share these learnings with the wider childhood cancer community, exchange knowledge with colleagues from across the region, and contribute to discussions on strengthening childhood cancer care.

It’s encouraging to see this work shared with healthcare professionals from across Asia, helping to spark conversations about how shared care models can strengthen childhood cancer services in different settings.”
