Workplace Discrimination Against Cancer Survivors – CancerWorld

“Workplace Discrimination Against Cancer Survivors

We talk a lot about surviving cancer.
We talk far less about surviving the workplace after cancer.

Despite medical advances that allow millions to live, work, and thrive long after treatment, many still face a different battle, one that takes place not in hospitals but in offices, warehouses, boardrooms, and HR departments.

Globally, only 64% of cancer survivors return to work, a range from 24% to 94%, depending on cancer type, treatment side effects, and support systems.

And for many, the return is marked by missed promotions, subtle exclusion, or even unlawful dismissal.

From the U.S. to the U.K., from South Africa to Japan, from Latin America to the Middle East, the stories share the same painful truth:

Bias persists. Stigma persists. Discrimination persists.

It’s time to change that!
