Wilson Gonsalves Returns to Creighton University for Annual Alumni Grand Rounds

Wilson Gonsalves, Professor of Medicine, Hematologist, Oncologist at Mayo Clinic, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Returning to CHI Health/Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, NE for the 2026 Annual Alumni Grand Rounds hosted by their Department of Medicine was truly special.

It’s hard to believe it has been over 25 years since I first stepped onto the campus of Creighton University as an undergraduate – a place that shaped some of the most formative years of my career all the way through medical school and residency training.

My time in the Internal Medicine Residency provided me with exceptional training, guided by physicians who were not only brilliant, but deeply compassionate and committed to patient care and the education of their learners.

I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to return, reconnect with mentors and friends, and reflect on the journey since leaving Omaha. It was also wonderful to see how much the city has grown-what an incredible place to live, learn, and train in medicine.

Visiting the Henry Lynch Cancer Center was especially meaningful. A fitting tribute to a giant in oncology whose impact continues to inspire so many. I was one of the lucky ones to be able to round with him on service during my training.

Thank you to the Department of Medicine Chair, Dr. Michael Kim, and the Internal Medicine Program Directors, Dr. Bradley DeVrieze and Bradley DeVrieze, for the kind invitation, hospitality, and the opportunity to share updates on the exciting progress in the field of myeloma.

Grateful for where the journey began-and for all the people who helped shape it.”
