Wei Zhang, Director of the Center for Cancer Genomics and Precision Oncology, Hanes and Willis Family Professor in Cancer at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Comprehensive Cancer Center, Wake Forest University School of Medicine, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“At this season of Thanksgiving, I am deeply thankful to my Finnish colleagues and friends for giving me the most exciting highlight of this year – I was awarded an Honorary Doctorate at the esteemed Tampere University in Finland. Tampere is the second largest city and Tampere University ranks 4th among Finnish universities. Honorary Doctorate is the highest honor of the university.
During the last 20+ years, I have worked with a large number of Finnish researchers. We have made some exciting discoveries and published many high quality papers. Collaborating with Matti Nykter’s group, we were the first to discover the FGFR3-TACC3 fusion gene in glioblastoma and our published study stands the test of time. I am very thankful for our collaboration and friendship and for the award from their outstanding university.”
