Walid Kamoun: Today My Father, My First Role Model, Has Just Published a Collection of His Poetry

Walid Kamoun, Vice President, Global Head of R/D Oncology at Servier, shared on LinkedIn:

“Today is a special day for me.

My father, my first role model, has just published a collection of his poetry that he wrote over the years. What makes this work even more unique is that it is written in both French and Arabic, two languages that have allowed him to express the richness of his emotions and experiences.

Growing up, I learned many things from him, but two qualities stand out above all others: an insatiable curiosity about the world and a deep conviction that whatever you do, you should do it with passion and purpose. Those lessons have guided me throughout my personal and professional journey.

What I admire most, however, is his ability to balance intellect and heart. He has always combined a love of ideas with a profound appreciation for beauty, human connection, and emotion. In a world that often encourages us to choose between reason and feeling, he showed me that the two can coexist and even strengthen each other. It is a balance I continue to aspire to achieve. His poetry reflects this philosophy. The central themes are love, beauty, and life.

His publication also reminds me of something important: creative work deserves to be preserved and shared. Too often, we leave our ideas, stories, sketches, photographs, or writings scattered across notebooks, computers, and memories. Yet these creations are part of who we are and of the legacy we leave behind.

So beyond celebrating my father’s achievement, I would encourage everyone to consider gathering and sharing their own creative journey. Whether through poetry, music, photography, painting, writing, or any other form of expression, there is something powerful about looking back at years of creation and giving it a lasting home.

I am incredibly proud of him and grateful for the example he continues to set.”
