Walid Kamoun: Using AI as a Thought Partner, Not Just a Search Engine

Walid Kamoun, Vice President, Global Head of R/D Oncology at Servier, shared on LinkedIn:

Summer Reading Series – Less Noise, Better Thinking

After reading Aristotle’s Way by Edith Hall, I had an interesting conversation with my dad. He encouraged me to look beyond Aristotle and explore Ibn Sina (Avicenna) and Ibn Rushd (Averroes), two thinkers who expanded and challenged Aristotelian philosophy.

What struck me most about Ibn Sina was the idea that knowledge is not about collecting more information, but about developing clearer reasoning.

A timely reminder in an age of information overload:

  •  Better thinking matters more than more data.
  •  Understanding comes from connecting ideas.
  •  Clarity often comes from reducing noise.

An unexpected part of this journey was using AI as a thought partner. I had a fascinating discussion, in Arabic, about Ibn Sina, and Ibn Rushd. Exploring these ideas in their cultural and linguistic context made the experience richer and more nuanced.

It was the first time I used AI not to find answers, but to deepen my understanding. I found it incredibly rewarding.”
