Wafaa M Rashed: Strengthening Genomics Research in Africa, PAPERI 2-Year Milestone

Wafaa M Rashed, Chair and Founder of Pan-African PGS Education and Research Initiative, shared a post on LinkedIn:

Something Special Is Coming

Two years ago, PAPERI began with a simple belief:

That empowering African researchers through education, collaboration, and partnership could help shape the future of genomics and precision medicine across the continent.

Today, that belief has grown into a vibrant community connecting scientists, clinicians, students, and global partners across Africa and beyond. As we approach PAPERI’s 2nd Anniversary, we are preparing a celebration that reflects our journey – and the remarkable people and organizations who have been part of it.

During the event, we will:

  • Hear inspiring messages from international partners, R
  • eflect on collaborations that have strengthened research capacity across Africa,
  • Showcase voices from the PAPERI Voices of Genomics Challenge 2026
  • And announce the People’s Choice winners selected by the community
  • And most importantly, celebrate the growing network of individuals who believe Africa has a leading role in the future of genomics.

Over the past two years, PAPERI has remained a volunteer-driven initiative powered by learning, collaboration, and scientific excellence, and every partnership, workshop, webinar, and participant has shaped this journey.

Join us on 6 July 2026 as we celebrate two years of impact, partnership, and possibility.

Because this anniversary is not simply about looking back.

It is about celebrating the people who made this journey possible – and looking ahead to what we can build together for Africa.

The countdown begins.”
