Wafaa M Rashed: Pleased to Share Mounia Ferroudj’s Reflection on Genomics-Informed Policy

Wafaa M Rashed, Chair and Founder of PAPERI (Pan-African PGS Education and Research Initiative), shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Participant Spotlight: Mounia Ferroudj (Algeria) Reflects on the Power of Genomics-Informed Policy.
Participant Reflection | PAPERI Policy Advocacy in Genetics and Genomics Course.
We are pleased to share a reflection from Ferroudj Mounia, a Clinical Microbiology Specialist from Algeria, who participated in the Policy Advocacy in Genetics and Genomics Course organized by PAPERI.

In her reflection, Mounia highlights how the course deepened her understanding of the role of genomics in informing healthcare policy, addressing public health challenges, and advancing evidence-based decision-making.

She also emphasizes the importance of considering ethical, economic, and practical factors in policy development, as well as the need for stronger collaboration among researchers, policymakers, healthcare professionals, and industry partners to address health challenges across Africa and beyond.

One particularly inspiring takeaway is her interest in the intersection of antimicrobial resistance genomics and health policy—an area of growing importance for global health.
At PAPERI, we are committed to empowering participants with the knowledge, critical thinking skills, and advocacy tools needed to contribute to the responsible and equitable implementation of genomics in healthcare.

We thank Mounia for sharing her experience and wish her continued success in her professional and advocacy journey.
Watch her reflection and hear how genomics education can inspire meaningful change.”
