Wafaa M Rashed: Applications Open for 16th Cohort in Policy Advocacy in Genetics and Genomics

Wafaa M Rashed, Chair and Founder of Pan-African PGS Education and Research Initiative, shared a post on LinkedIn:

” ‘Africa is ready to lead in genomics – and that leadership begins with those bold enough to step forward and shape it.’

I’m excited to announce that applications are now open for the 16th Cohort of the Policy Advocacy in Genetics and Genomics course, hosted by the Pan-African PGS Education and Research Initiative (PAPERI).

This intensive online program is designed to equip emerging and mid-career leaders with the knowledge, confidence, and policy literacy needed to actively shape national, regional, and global conversations on genetics and genomics. It is for those who believe that Africa must lead the future of precision health – not simply follow it.

 What You’ll Gain

  • Certificate upon successful completion
  • Participation in a live policy debate session
  • Opportunities for visibility, collaboration, and continued engagement

Who Should Apply?

Scientists, graduate students, researchers, policymakers, healthcare professionals, bioethicists, and advocates across Africa and beyond who are passionate about advancing genomics and precision health.

Open Call: 23 March 2026
Deadline: 30 March 2026
Course Starts: 4 April 2026
Debate Session: 25 April 2026

I encourage everyone to disseminate this announcement widely across Africa – North, South, East, and West. We welcome all to apply and join our PAPERI community so we can learn, lead, and grow together.

‘The future of genomics in Africa will be written by those who choose to rise, connect, and build – together.’ “
