Wafaa M Rashed, Chair and Founder of Pan-African PGS Education and Research Initiative, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Africa’s Future Is in Safe Hands Because of This Generation.
We’re delighted to share another powerful motivation story – this time from Ms. Marissa Mutare, a scientist from Zimbabwe whose journey into precision medicine began just months ago and has already transformed her career trajectory.
Marissa is transitioning into data science, bioinformatics, and precision medicine, driven by one clear conviction:
“African contexts must be represented in precision medicine datasets and applications, so that solutions truly serve our communities.”
She is joining the PAPERI Policy Advocacy in Genetics and Genomics Course to gain fluency in the language of policy, evaluate existing frameworks, understand trade-offs, and learn how policies evolve alongside science, technology, and societal values.
Her voice reflects the courage, clarity, and commitment that reassure us:
Africa’s future is in safe hands because of this generation.
Watch Marissa’s 1-minute video here.
Application deadline extended to 28 December 2025.
Let’s continue uplifting African scientists ready to shape the policies and technologies of tomorrow.”
