“Registration is officially open for the 3rd Annual Rural Oncology Conference (ROC ’27), April 30–May 1, 2027, in Chapel Hill, NC.
We are thrilled to announce our keynote speaker: Monica Bertagnolli, MD, President of the National Academy of Medicine.
Dr. Bertagnolli built her career as a surgical oncologist at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, though her roots trace back to a ranch in rural Wyoming, an origin story that has shaped her career-long commitment to rural cancer care.
As President of American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), she made rural oncology a defining priority. She went on to serve as Director of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and then Director of The National Institutes of Health, before being elected President of the National Academy of Medicine.
Few voices in American medicine combine her clinical expertise, federal leadership experience, and lived understanding of what it means to receive cancer care in a rural community.
We could not be more excited to welcome her to Chapel Hill.
