“Arizona becomes the 13th state to declare June 4th Rural Cancer Awareness Day.
Governor Katie Hobbs has issued a formal proclamation recognizing June 4th as Rural Cancer Awareness Day in Arizona, making Arizona the 13th state to join this growing national movement.
Rural Americans face significantly higher cancer mortality rates, longer travel distances to care, and lower rates of screening and clinical trial access. Gubernatorial proclamations like this one send a clear signal: rural cancer disparities are a public health priority worthy of state-level recognition.
We are grateful to Andrew Armstrong for his work coordinating the Arizona proclamation effort and to Samson Mah for his leadership in building and executing the national strategy, which has now reached 13 states.
June 4th is Rural Cancer Awareness Day. Spread the word.
See all 13 state proclamations.”
