Wade Swenson: Driving Impact – Advocacy Tools to Advance Rural Healthcare

Wade Swenson, Founder of Rural Cancer Institute, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Just wrapped up presenting, “Driving Impact: Advocacy Tools to Advance Rural Healthcare” today at the Transforming Community and Rural Healthcare 2025 conference in Rochester, MN, hosted by Mayo Clinic Health System. Our panel dove into why advocacy is a game-changer for rural health providers and how powerful storytelling can amplify their voices to drive real change.

Joining me on stage were an incredible group of colleagues:

  •  Jasmine Kamboj, MD, FASCO – Community Oncologist, Mayo Clinic Health System
  •  Jonathan Ticku, M.D. – Community Oncologist, Mayo Clinic Health System
  •  Joshua Pritchett, M.D. – Assistant Professor, Mayo Clinic, Community Oncologist at Mayo Clinic Health System & Advisor, Rural Cancer Institute
  •  Ruiling Yuan, MD Yuan, M.D. – Rural Oncologist, Self Regional Healthcare
  •  Zachary Schroeder, MD – Medical Resident, Wake Forest University School of Medicine & Co-Founder, Rural Cancer Institute (Zack had clinical responsibilities – somebody had to work)

Key takeaway: In rural healthcare, your story is your strongest tool—let’s empower providers with advocacy strategies to unlock funding, policy wins, and better patient outcomes!

Thank you to Andrew Calvin, MD, MPH, Chair of Education, Mayo Clinic Health System – for organizing this impactful conference. Thank you Julie Reed and Kathy Fuqua to make this event seamless.”
