“Voices of the families post No. 43, Rediet and her father.
Rediet is a 7-year-old girl from Limmu Kosa, the second of three children. She was referred from Limmu Hospital to Jimma University Medical Center (JUMC) after unsuccessful treatment from the local clinic.
‘When they told me my daughter had cancer and needed surgery, it was hard to accept because I have never heard of this type of cancer before. We had to leave our farm in the care of our neighbors and borrow money to come to the hospital for treatment’ said the father.
However, insurance coverage and strong local support from TAPCCO played a critical role in helping him continue his daughter’s treatment. He specifically mentioned that the Zero Abandonment Project made a big difference by giving him the confidence and motivation to stay committed to her care.
Appropriate consent was given.”
